AVG Antivirus Software Crashes In The Windows Operating System

AVG antivirus is one of the family antivirus software which is owned by Avast. It’s free and reliable software to protect you against malware, malicious software, and other sorts of virus threats. Many users have complained about the system crash during the usage of AVG antivirus. In this case, follow the given steps to recover:
  • Power on your computer and create an AVG rescue CD.
  • Use the newly created AVG rescue CD to restart the computer which is crashed.
  • Once the CD has been launched, go to Utility option and click on File Manager.
  • Using the rescue CD File Manager go to the affected hard drive- usually/mnt/sd1/.
  • Now, move to the AVG folder, which is usually under C:\Program Files\ grisoft\.
  • Retype the name of the AVG and then close the CD. Restart your computer normal now.
  • Now, you can reinstall software and renew the definitions to a version that doesn’t cause the system crash. 

Second method:
  • Reboot your computer and start windows in safe mode as per the given instructions:
  1. Select the Shutdown option while holding down the F8 key on the keyboard.
  2. Select the Restart and continue pressing the F8 key until you enter a black screen with lots of option.
  3. Now, use the arrow buttons to reach the Safe Mode option.
  4. Press Enter.
  • Press Windows + R key, type “msconfig.exe” and click OK.
  • Move to the General tab, click on Diagnostic startup.
  • Select Services and choose your AVG product.
  • Move back to the General tab and select Selective startup. 
  • Hit OK when the system gets restarted.
